Hello again! I hope everyone is having a nice day, week, month or life in general. I’m really excited about this weeks post because I’m doing the Book Blog Newbie Tag.
As I briefly mentioned in my previous post, in November Between Thoughts & Words (BT&W) turned 1 year old. So in celebration of that, I thought it be the perfect time to do this post.
It might seem a little late to be doing the Book Blog Newbie tag, but I still very much feel like a newbie even though I’ve been at this for a year.
The thing is, I joined the book blogging community on a whim. Didn’t really do any pre-planning before launching my website. So I know there was a lot of things that I should have been doing for my site that I didn’t do and that ultimately affected the success of my blog.
Apart from trying to fix the mistakes I did in my first year of blogging, I am trying to be a little more present in the book blogging/book community. This seemed as good a way as any to get started. It seems like just about everyone on their preferred platform, has their newbie tag post, so I really wanted to add mine.
So here are my answers to the questions (which I found on The Bookaholic Dreamer’s website.)
Q1: Why did you start this blog?
The biggest reason I started this blog is because I really wanted to be a part of the book community. A little more than a year ago, I had no idea something like “BookTube” or “book Twitter” was a thing that existed (or that there was a name for the community).
I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers Piera Forde, and I had only ever watched her videos on the Maximum Ride series and I don’t really know why but I just decided to watch some of her other videos.
She kept talking about BookTube, Book Twitter and all that. And, that was when I found out there was so many other creators making book content. So from there I branched out and started watching other booktubers and very soon after I started wanting to be active in this lovely community.
Also, I’m very shy – so I could never do BookTube, but I did have some prior WordPress knowledge so I decided that was the platform I was going to use.
Q2: What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
This is a hard question to answer. And, my answer may sound totally generic but as far as the unique things I can bring to book blogging goes; I bring myself, my opinions, and my personality.
No two people read a book the same way. So I can bring the “scope” or “lens” through which I read a book.
One thing that I didn’t do in my first year blogging was write fun blog posts like Book Tags and Book Lists. I mostly focused on posting book reviews, which are important to a book blog but there are so many other type of posts beyond reviews that I could’ve done. I definitely want to do that this time around. I’m sure they’ll be fun to write and I just hope they’ll also be fun to read.
Q3: What are you most excited for about this blog?
I guess what excites me the most about this blog is watching it grow. Not in the sense that I’m just keeping an eye on the numbers or anything. I mean more in the sense that I’m writing more posts and just generally growing the content of my blog.
To date I believe I have about 13 blog posts, and I can’t wait until I have way more! I can’t wait for my blog to sort of have that “finished” look about it. Where it looks put together and I have a good amount of content.
Another thing that I am excited about is just having a platform to share my opinion. I am hoping that in having a platform, I will have more doors open to maybe possibly join a book club (or start one, who knows) because that is definitely one for the bucket list for me.
P.S. In an attempt to NOT make my Book Blog Newbie tag overwhelmingly long, I decided to split it up into 3 parts. The next part will be up sometime next week, see you then
